this sweet family is the gerhkens, i had the absolute pleasure to work with them and loved it, chelsea is a doula here in greensboro, she mentioned that over the phone and when i met her in person i was quite impressed, excuse my ignorance in the field, but i always thought doulas were ladies with white, long hair that help deliver your baby at home, but i was obviously wrong, you’ll see when you see chelsea in the images below.

these are few of my favorites from our photo-session, they truly are a reflection of their laid-back, loving spirit.  thank you chelsea and emmett for all of your kindness.

Finley could be easily be working for crewcuts, he has the face, the hair and the energy (and the photographer of course, hello crewcuts). in the meanwhile i’m enjoying that he is working exclusively with me …

for those who visit my blog often, you know that these little faces (well, 2 are not so little anymore) are regulars around here, and around our house too … this time we introduce a new little one, who came unexpectedly and has delighted us all, his name is alex, he is 5-months old and like his big brother, he hit the lottery with those fantastic blue eyes…

rachel and jose and their party of 5 joined us for the StudioMini sessions event we threw 2 weeks ago as part of our new “Studio-PhotoShoot” offering, these sessions take place at this AMAZING photo studio near downtown greensboro, and the kids seem to love it as much as the adults! you’ll see why.

dear villalbas thank you all for making it so easy and so fun for me. working with you is ALWAYS a pleasure.

a couple of years ago i heard the story of a photographer from NYC, Scott Harrison, who went to west africa as a photojournalist volunteer.  the project changed his life (and the lives of many others)…. watching the video and reading the stories on the web had a great impact on me.  like the fact that almost a billion people live without clean water.  and that women and children in places like  sub-saharan africa walk up to four hours each day to get water – and that every 19 seconds a mother loses one of her children because of this same contaminated water.  this breaks my heart in pieces.  it makes me immensely grateful for the life i get to live, but also creates a profound feeling of responsibility, and, since i believe that the worst of sins is indifference, i’ve decided to use my modest ways (photography work, blogging, donations, etc) to help.

CHARITY: WATER is one of my favorite charity foundations. please open you hearts and give just 10 minutes of your time to watch this video or visit their website. i’m sure, like me, you would love to be part of such a great movement.

…march is here and that of course means the ncaa basketball tournament, of which we are so lucky to host some of the games here in our dear greensboro…i saw this article the other day listing the most popular pet names that are shared with this year’s teams…check it out to see if your pet made the cut

Little Fin… this sweet, little guy did so well during our session last week, I couldn’t believe it, he barely fussed after all of the moving around, the cold, the noise and the annoying girl with the “big black thing” on her face. He is a real cutie, maybe in a year he will be leaving all of his toys on our driveway, to pay us back for all the times that Martin, his dad, had to bring back our son, Luca’s,  bikes, cars and balls.

last week had  what I planned to be my last QPP (quick pix party) of this year, it was one of those perfect “shootings”–except for the fact that I got lost for an hour on my way home–great location, gorgeous light, mothers that stayed away from the “say cheese” routine from the back of my camera, and 6 fun, smart, cooperative and model-looking kids that made my work so easy that afternoon. what I like the most about our quick pix parties is that they are just fun.  the hostess always has yummy snacks that I can’t resist and since the mothers are usually all friends, it’s a great get-together for them too!  check out the sneak peaks of this last party …

What a great way to start my new blog!….Alexander is 8, he lives down the street, I always thought he was such a cool kid, not only his looks but also his vibe. When Julie, his mom, contacted me to book a session, I was very excited. 2 weeks ago I had the pleasure to photograph him, we had a blast! he was so creative and  fun that all I had to do was click the shutter.
