i am so lucky in so many ways, as a photographer i have the chance to work my dream job at my own rhythm-that’s priceless-but i’m also very lucky to get to photograph such cool, fun and to top it offs such beautiful families all the time. i know i always brag about my clients, but it’s true, here i have a clear example of that. the bairds are one of those families that truly, genuinely love and enjoy each other, when i arrived aislyn and audrey where ready for me dressed in their pretty tu-tu’s, they LOVED having their pictures taken and playing to the camera, these 2 are such fun kids to be around and so is isaac, who at almost 2 years old talks and knows the colors already, he didn’t want anything to do with the strange girl that followed him with that big black thing, but that didn’t last long, he soon came out of his shell and gave me the most beautiful smiles. carrie and matt you have a truly wonderful family, thank you so much for letting me in you house to photograph you. can’t wait to see you all again.

this is a very out-of-the-ordinary shooting for me, it is actually the first time i have covered an event like this, i had a lot of fun… this was gina’s prom night, her family organized a dinner for her and 38 friends before they went to the prom party–i know amazing parents!  it was a great party!  the kids all met and got on a huge bus that took them to the simmon’s house where we were all waiting, everyone ate and hung out and then the bus took them to the prom!   well, i don’t want to write to much more, let me instead show you what i captured that evening..

tammy did an amazing job putting everything together and decorating the whole place…

· what i’ve been doing lately? · greensboro commercial photographer · aris wells ·

well, i was in new york last week. this wasn’t my first time in the big apple but for sure it was the best one, i got to walk the streets, take the subways, eat great meals, shop, dance and sleep-in with my “superman” …we had a great time.

here is what i loved the most (and the least) about our visit:

· first and foremost, the enormous amount of creativity this city has, like no other place…you just find in it in so many places and in so many ways, from the spectacular art museums to the guys in the street that out of a cheap canvas make a beautiful piece of art…that’s what i enjoyed the most, it makes me want to stay.

· the food, oh my lord, the food…we had just 1 so-so meal, the rest was just… BUENISIMO!

· the shops, my new Frye boots, black Campers.

· martin and agnes and their beautiful girls, i love their genuine sense of humor, their humbleness, sweetness and the st. andres cheese.

· waking  up at 11 a.m. on sunday, i forgot how great that feels.

· the unusual sensation of shopping with my husband, thanks honey, i know you did it out of pure love.

· waking up saturday morning to walk to the today show so our kids could see us on television so they felt we weren’t that far away.

· spending time with kyle, mick’s cousin, who is a great guy, love your jacket. hope you visit us this summer.

· fuerza bruta, an amazing dance-acrobat-music show, like stomp meets a rave meets cirque du soleil….but where you are part of it.

· women in their 70’s with huge funky sunglasses and amazing style.

· delis where you can get whatever you want whenever you want.

· what i liked the least….well waiting for an hour for a table, flying in and seeing the ginormous holes at the world trade center, having to wash the dirt off of me all the time just from walking around, being refused by lazy cabbies, small hotel rooms and blisters.

we’ll go back soon, we have to go back soon, it’s a one-of-a-kind place and gave me so much inspiration…take a look and i’m sure you’ll agree…

· before i was a mom · aris wells · luca’s and sophie’s mami ·

last year, somewhere, i don’t exactly remember where, i found these lines, i don’t know who wrote them either , i just know that they were so true to how i feel since i became a mom that i took a pen and wrote them in the back of the little agenda i carry in my tote everywhere i go. today i wanted to share them with all of you

have a wonderful mother’s day

Before I was a Mom I never learned the words to a lullaby.

I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom - I had never been puked on.

Pooped on.

Drooled on.

Chewed on.

Peed on.

I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.

I slept all night.

I never looked into teary eyes and cried.

I never got gloriously happy over a simple little grin.

I never sat up for hours watching a baby sleep.

I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn’t stop the hurt.

I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.

I never knew that I could love someone so much.

I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom - I didn’t know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.

I didn’t know that bond between a mother and her child.

I didn’t know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

I had never known the warmth, The joy, The love, The heartache, The wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.

I didn’t know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom.

· abbey & bridget· greensboro family photographer·

i love, love, love when my clients hire me to photograph their children while they are doing what they like the most, what speaks to their personalities, i love going to their favorite room or favorite park or just to get them with their favorite toy… that’s what abbey, bridget and i did couple of weeks ago and i enjoyed so much capturing this special time in their lives.

this is abbey, she is 12 and she has the coolest bedroom, all her favorite things are  in there, she spends most of the time with her pink computer and her ipod….she’s sweet, creative and funky and as you can tell, very beautiful, loves the camera and feels comfortable in front of it….

remember  jack, the cute  little man, a couple of posts down? gina is his oldest sister and last saturday i went over  to their house to photograph her on prom night, well, right before she and will, her handsome boyfriend, left for the party, it was a last minute call but a great session, one of those that just go perfectly, she is not only a beautiful and very sweet chick but also very self confident, didn’t even need the warm up time in front of the camera, it was just very relaxed and natural, you’ll see it in the pictures, she and will are such a cute couple that made my work so easy, except for the fact that they are so tall, i should have worn my high heels that day :)… thanks guys, i hope you had a great night!

back in 2002 while i was paying my way through college by waitressing at the roney palace hotel in miami beach, i met this charming guy that had just relocated from chicago because of his job. he rented a place across the street from the hotel and in the absence of furniture and tv at his apartment, he decided he could use  the one in our pub. he was the kindest, sweetest, and smartest, but mostly the best tipper i ever met. every friday he would come over to the pub to say hi and drink a heineken (i later discovered he does not like heinekens and also that he didn’t know the tip was already included). sometimes he disappeared for weeks, but  always came back, mostly to the pool where he had a great view of my very tanned and toned legs that were prominently displayed by the very tiny pair of shorts that were part of my uniform… it took him over a year to ask me out! …. Oh, hold on, i think i took the first step ;)… anyways, to make a long story short, which i already made long (i do that all the time), 4 years ago today, at noon on a beautiful Sunday, we married in front of our families, closest friends and a gorgeous ocean view. i can tell you, that was the best decision I’ve ever made…. that day the jazz and the salsa blended together and today i feel so fortunate to have him in my life  and so proud of the life we have built together…

…. you are my love, my lover, my room “mate”, my super hero, my craziness supporter,

my English grammar corrector, my rollercoaster partner,

my ”arroz con pollo” eater, my #1 fan, my ultimate dream man,

my forever boyfriend.

please meet little mr. jack, I call him mr. because you can tell he’s all-boy right off.. yes, you see him and know right away he’s a BOY, a big, handsome, sweet boy, that likes to be cuddled and bounced when he is fussy and that has the deepest blue eyes… tammy, his mom, was just as cool as my little model, no stress, just truly enjoying the whole experience of been photographed with her new baby boy - you can tell when you see the pictures. thank you very much for such a fun and relaxed session… and thank you Catherine for all your help and kindness that morning, it was a pleasure to meet you all.

here is your little prince!

happy monday to you all, I had this idea the other night as I heard from an old client, who follows my work through my blog, it’s shame that the children I had the pleasure to photograph before I started this blog never get their special time on it, so I decided that from time to time, as I get a free moment I will post some of them (I know for sure it will be hard to pick)… so here I leave you with this charming young lady from Boston that posed to my lens back in September during this great workshop

Isn’t she beautiful?
